Dear Parent(s) or Guardian:
As a student at Lyman Gilmore School, your child may have the opportunity to participate in Supplemental Educational Services (SES) offered through the federal law, No Child Left Behind. These tutoring services provide extra assistance outside of the regular school day to help your child improve his or her academic performance in English Language Arts or Mathematics. The tutoring services are free of charge, but do not provide for transportation costs.
This year, our district has selected state approved service providers (tutoring companies) to work with our Lyman Gilmore students. Some of these tutoring companies will provide services at a center, this school site, or at the public library after regular school hours. Some will provide services at the home of the participating students, while others will tutor your child via online services. We anticipate that the tutoring will begin in early January. If your child is accepted into the SES program, the tutoring company you select on your application will contact you to conduct an assessment and to set up a tutoring schedule.
Under the Supplemental Educational Services program, parents/guardians must select the service provider. However, they may request assistance from district personnel. State approved providers are listed on this page under Program Improvement Documentation. Only companies on this approved list may be selected.
An application for Supplemental Educational Services is available under the Program Improvement Documentation link. In order for your application to be considered, you must select a service provider and return the application to the school by Friday, March 15, 2013.
If you have questions about the SES program or would like help in choosing a provider, please call Principal John Baggett, at 273-8479.
Sincerely,
Eric Fredrickson
Superintendent
